Karate tuition for all ages and levels in the Wigan area

Here at North West Sports Karate Club in Wigan , we cater for all ages and all levels of fitness. From beginners wanting to learn new skills or to keep fit to seasoned pupils who are looking to continue their training to gain higher belts and grades. Our current students range from 6 years old to 60 years young. Why not come down and speak to our senior instructor Sensei Jenkins or turn up for a free taster lesson. Our Karate classes are held at Westfield Community School in Wigan (details at bottom of page) and takes place on Tuesdays evening at 19:00 to 20:00 & Thursday 19:00 to 20:00. OUR TEAM

Meet our team of instructors, with over 40 years combined experience in Karate our team of instructors are very approachable and dedicate their time to teaching others the art of Karate.

Senior Sensei Steve Jenkins

Steve Jenkins – has regularly trained for 17 years in several locations within the group (sometimes three and four times a week) including Wigan, St Helens and Lancaster, the latter of which was under the chief instructor. He has been teaching for 10 years and recently attained the rank of 4th Dan. Currently he is training in the style of Shotokan as well as Wado Ryu and incorporates both styles into his lessons

Sensei Mike Linnett

Mike started Karate after watching his son take the same class and decided to try himself. Paired with his sparring partner Sensei Gary Tarpy they both trained for over 10 years to rise through the ranks to achieve their first dan grade in 2017. Whilst working toward his next grade Mike spends alot of his time teaching others and helping lower grades.

SENSEI GARRY TARPEY

Garry’s children convinced him to start training back in 2009,  gaining his White belt the same year, he progressed to achieve his First Dan grade along with his partner Sensei Mike Linnett in 2017. Garry now enjoys helping others to progress through their grades while training with Sensei Mike Linnett for their next grading under Sensei Steve Jenkins instruction
